Cat Town is a webcomic (or more strictly, a web fumetto) produced by R. Noyes. Begun in July of 2003, it is written in the format of a TV show "ABOUT A TOWN WHERE EVERYBODY IS A CAT". There are twenty-four episodes as of June 2006.
With a few exceptions, the images used in Cat Town are photographs of various cats in costumes, taken from CatPrin, a Japanese "tailor for cats." The comic (and the rest of the site) relies for its humor primarily on the absurdity of its images, dialogue, and plots, and is written in all caps to underscore this absurdity. The hero of the TV show is El Guapo, who generally saves the day after the Animal Hat Gang commits or attempts to commit some sort of caper. Notwithstanding its campy nature, Cat Town has acquired a certain amount of continuity over time.

[edit] History of Cat Town
According to the latest episode, Mayor Sailor Suit cat has been in office for two terms. Before that, his father was in office. And before his father came into the mayoral office, Cat Town was "RULED BY A SUCCESSION OF FEUDAL LORDS AND BENEVOLENT DESPOTS."
Cat Town's greatest crisis came when their show was cancelled and replaced with DOGVILLE, a poor knockoff of the Cat Town show. (The site was redesigned accordingly for the duration of this story.) The Animal Hat Gang teamed up with El Guapo to rid the denizens of Cat Town from these interlopers, after which they received a new contract from the President of the Internet.
[edit] Central characters
- Angel - The guardian angel of Cat Town, who introduces every episode of the show.
- Mayor Sailor Suit Cat - The mayor of Cat Town, whose duties seem largely ceremonial since he calls on El Guapo as soon as anything important needs to be done.
- El Guapo - The hero, who is always busy defending the town.
- Little Redhaired Cat - A beautiful young girl whose love for El Guapo goes largely ignored.
- The Animal Hat Gang - A group of no-good ruffians who regularly make trouble for the good cats of Cat Town, but are always caught by El Guapo in the end.
- J. Wellington Cat the Third - The father of the Little Redhaired Cat and owner of the Cat Town Cat Food Company. His attempt to give his daughter's hand in marriage to El Guapo failed when he revealed that he was married to the sea.
- The Easily Startled Cats - These two cats may or may not be named Rozencrantz and Guildenstern. Their dialogue usually consists of "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH".
- Blanche - Cat Town's most stylish denizen, who may or may not be a reporter.
- DJ Hand Puppet - The DJ of the Annual Cat Town Rave, so named because the photo used looks more like a hand puppet than an actual cat.
[edit] Guest characters
- Rabs - A Mary Sue insert who first appeared in a Cat Town fanfic before being imported into canon. She is from another planet and immune to poison, which comes in handy during her appearance in parts two and three of THE DANCE CONTEST.
- Martha - Noyes' own cat, who makes a cameo appearance in THE MUSICAL EPISODE.
- The Unnamed Rabbit-Eared Cat - A cat from the CatPrin website who has never been given a name and generally does not serve a major role in the plot.
- The Dogs of Dogville - The "stars" of the DOGVILLE plot arc, including President Sailor Dog, Beezer, Tycoon Pierpont Bowser the Fifth, El Perro Estupendo, and several other unnamed dogs who are effectively carbon copies of Cat Town characters.
- The President of the Internet - This shadowy figure is responsible for keeping Cat Town on the air.
