Ki Hiwatari

Ki Hiwatari (日渡希 Hiwatari Ki) is the artist and author of the on-going webmanga series Contradiction. He started creating mangas since 2001 and most of his earlier works are just sketches in sketch books.

Ki was born in Hong Kong in 1987, a pure Chinese from the start but also a Canadian and Macanese. He has a Bachelors of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering in the University of British Columbia and currently enrolled in the Masters degree program.

He started learning manga-style drawing in 2001, when he was mostly inspired by Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP. Ki learnt drawing by copying existing mangakas' works, from CLAMP in 2001 to Tanemura Arina in 2004. He was a traditional artist till 2006, when he started self-learning the basics of Photoshop. Ki owns a simple free version of Photoshop Elements 2.0, and together with pencil, paper, ink and a mouse, he started working on his first digital toned manga.

Ki has several manga projects since 2001, most of which have never been shown to anyone but his closest friends. Many of his mangas are unfinished due to lack of inspiration or movitation to continue, which is a problem faced by most amateur manga artists. However, he does have several finished works.

Revenge of the Gods (聖神復仇 Chinese Title)

This manga has a total of 10 chapters and is written in traditional Chinese. Two siblings who are gods had a fight and the younger brother joined forces with the devil. He sent his son, Shiro Harashita to earth in hopes of assassinating the daughter of his older brother, Minko Haraue, who was training as a normal human on earth. However, Shiro later realized that he could not complete the mission he was given, and turned against his father...

Angel's Symphony (天使のシンフォーンニー Tenshi no Shinfonni)

This is a one shot about a girl, Yuu Amamiya (天宮由 Amamiya Yū), training on earth in order to become a real angel. She met and fell in love with a human guy, Toshi Hoshino (星野俊 Hoshino Toshi), and decided to work hard in order to be with him. However, her childhood friend, Hiro Ooumoto (多本広 Oomoto Hiro), a devil she had long forgotten has also ascended to earth and vowed to separate her and the human. In order to force Yuu to give up on Toshi, Hiro treatened to take Toshi's life...

Magical Blessing (魔法の符 Mahou no ??? <- I don't really know what 符 is in hiragana...)

Spanning a length of 17 chapters totally, this is Ki's first ever manga series based entirely on magic. Tsuki Kooizumi (氷泉月 Kōizumi Tsuki) was sent to a boarding magic school because her brother regarded her as an eyesore at home. There she met her new roommate, Teiki Kojin (古神帝希 Kojin Teiki) who transferred to the school in search of a certain man. Teiki soon was known to be the strongest magic user in school. He even defeated the teacher in order to enter the Annual Magicial Contest, where he finally met the man who stole his father's invention ten years ago...

Chance Brings Hope (English Title)

This one-shot was originated from an English final exam essay in high school. Sana Kafuji (加藤沙奈 Kafuji Sana) was the daughter of the Commander in Chief of the army. One day, her father was out in the battlefield when she received news that revolutionary gangs were rising all over the country. Her childhood friend as well as a solder under her father, Hayato (隼人 Hayato), returned to her house and brought her news about the death of her father, and a last message from him. With Hayato's help, Kana fred from her homeland towards a new place...

Wish (English Title)

Wish is a two-shot inspired by D.N.Angel. Jun Matsumotoya (松本屋純 Matsumotoya Jun) was given the mission of maintaining peace in a small town. One night when she was hurt and found a temporary balcony to rest which she was getting home, she was seen and taken care of by the owner of the house, whom she later found was in the same school as hers. Her life saver, Kaze Katou (加藤風 Katō Kaze) was an average guy who preferred to get less attention and stayed quiet. Jun tried to become friends with him by thanking him for helping her out...

Contradiction (コントラディークショーン Kontoradeikusyon)

Contradiction is an on-going series which the author hope to make long. Ruya Saki (佐木留雅 Saki Ruya) received an invitation to attend Teiou Gakuen (帝王学園 Teiō Gakuen), the famous school for magic users inside the mysterious town of Setsuyamachi (セツヤ町). Not knowing the reason why she was invited, Ruya took her first step into this unfamiliar place. Autumn Love is a one-shot inspired by a manga titled "Himitsu Doumei/Secret Alliance". Suzune Fuyuno (冬野鈴音 Fuyuno Suzune) has a great obsession on cerebrities since she entered high school, and would go crazy over oever one of them. One day while she was walking back home from school, she saw the news of her favourite idol getting married. Feeling sad, she was not taking notice of where she was heading, and fell. Memory Fragments (記憶のカケラ Kioku no Kakera)
