Unlike the Special:Categories page, this page does not include all categories and subcategories. Rather, this list identifies the various ways that information has been filtered by the users of this project.

The List of Webcomics is the authorative index of this site. It is manually updated and lists all of the webcomics written about on this site. In addition, the following information is also provided: the name(s) of the comic creator(s), the comic's start and end dates, and the URL for each comic.
The Webcomics category is a categorial list of all webcomics written about on this site. It is automatically updated and lists all of the comics that have been added to this category. Unlike the List of Webcomics, it does not give any additional information about each comic.
The webcomics category also contains articles that are not about the various comics on this site, but instead about webcomic creators or collectives, etc. Thus, is often not as reliable as the manual List of Webcomics in terms of being an index of webcomics alone.

The term collective in the webcomic community refers to a group of webcomic creators who band together for business reasons, or just to create a richer community. Some collectives provide services such as web hosting and merchandising for members, either for free or for a modest fee. This category lists the various collectives that exist in the webcomic community, and the comics that belong to each collective.

Webcomics which have concluded, both in the sense that they have stopped updating, and that the story they tell has been resolved. Comics on hiatus or simply have not updated in a while do not go here.

This page lists comic categories that point to the general national identity of different webcomics.
Most often, comics are placed under a particular national category because the author happens to be born in or is residing in the listed country. For example, if a webcomic's artist is American, the comic will likely be placed under the "American webcomics" category.
However, occassionally a comic may also be placed under a national category because it is set in a certain country. For example, an American living in Korea who draws a comic about life in Korea could end up in the Korean webcomics category, or the American webcomics category, or both.
