[edit] Scenario
"In a world outside of our own...war never ceases...Many creatures live in this world, some human...some not...But no matter what they are, thousands die each and every day...But this story isn't about war...It's about the many people whose lives were changed forever because of it..."
In the village of Arugamama, ninja reside. This is where they live and train. But this village holds a secret that they thought they had destroyed. All that remains of that secret is 12-year-old Takashi Habara. Having been shunned by everyone he's ever met, Takashi has made the decision to walk the path of the ninja and prove that his life is worth something. But what really lies behind those golden eyes?...

[edit] The Academy
The starting point in which the main characters are all still academy students. This arc is mostly to introduce and build on the characters' personalities. Aside from that, the 2nd main focus is on the graduation exams, first the written one, a 10 question test meant to test the limits of the students knowledge and comprehension. Then on the physical exam, in which the students are put in one-on-one matches with each other, until one is either unable to battle, quits, or the referee calls the match. During these matches, there is once again emphasis on character development.

[edit] Origins
MOSAIC started out as character sketches done in Thulin's free time after losing the motivation to continue with Sword Masters, her first manga. Those sketches were lost for some years, until Summer of 2006, when Thulin found them in an old sketch book and gave them a story. Unfortunately, these few chapters stayed in a folder and remained only pencilled drawings. But, in February of 2007, Thulin found Drunk Duck after googling random animals. Immediately intrigued, she skimmed through the site and found that she could finally share her comics. Since then, MOSAIC has continued, gradually gaining more readers. For several weeks, it has held a spot in the top 1000 (highest rank so far: #253 in Comic Book/Story and #344 Overall) comics on the site; Drunk Duck boasts a population of 21,185 comics as of 3 August 2009.
[edit] Production
MOSAIC used to be pencilled, and then inked with Precise V5 rolling ball pens, and presented in grayscale. Then, it was in full colour, using Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0.
As of 28 December 2008, MOSAIC has made a switch once again in it's production. It is no longer hand inked and photoshoped, but done completely in Manga Studio 3.0.
There are a number of videos on the internet of the production of the pages. A four-part video of the pencilling and drafting of page 072 can be found starting here. And, a sped-up taping of the inking and toning of page 092 can be found here. More videos are expected in the future.
[edit] Web Site
MOSAIC is hosted on Drunk Duck and can be found here, where it updates on Sundays. On 18 July 2009, MOSAIC went through major site renovations, now sporting a new layout that includes sprites of the main characters in the navigational buttons in the style of GaiaOnline avatars.
