Eppies are small creatures who have big stories. This is the story of a young male Eppie who is on a secret mission and in search of adventure.

Parables of an Eppie (POAE), derives from S.A. Jones' first children's book titled "The Love of the Eppies" which was released in fall 2006. A new revised and expanded (over 36 pages added) is scheduled for a releas soon. As well as an all new "Art and Science of The Eppies" book which features multiple artist renditions of the Eppies and numorous behind the scenes work.

  • Elek- Elek is a young male Eppie, who is the main character of the story. He has been asked to go on a secret mission to find "other" Eppies. His Elder asked him to take this journey and he agreed. He loves to fly in his glider, which is currently wrecked. He has learned a lot so far on his journey and is maturing quickly. He has made new friends, including Shirly the worm, who gave him his new bag. Elek's bag goes with him everywhere, and seems to be full, but Elek has yet put anything in it himself. Elek's name comes from Hungarian heritage which comes from the old name Alexus, which comes from the Greek Alexios which means "Helper" and "Defender". Elek makes his appearance on page one of the "Parables of an Eppie" web-comic.
  • Shirly- Shirly is a worm who lives by herself. She has many friends who visit frequently. Her favorite thing to do is knit, she personally has a love for scarfs. Her age is unknown and she recently has met Elek, and given him a bag as a gift. She is very wise and kind, she tries to help Elek any way she can. I dont believe we have seen the last of Shirly. Shirly's name is a varient of Shirley which is an old english surname which means "Bright Clearing". Shirly makes her first appearance on page eight of the "POAE" web-comic.
  • Eppie Elder- We dont know much about this Eppie Elder, we dont even know his name. We do know that he has sent Elek on his mission and that he fears for the Eppies of his tree. He is very wise and old, gentle and kind. The rest about this Eppie is all a mystery, one wonders what his story is and what similar adventures he has been on. He makes his first appearance on page sixteen of the "POAE" web-comic
  • Zachary- Zachary is a bee, who is very loyal to his hive and queen. He is also very loyal to those he calls his friends. He wears goggles to help him see and to keep the wind from making his eyes water. Zachary's name is a form of an english name Zechariah, which is a form of the Hebrew name Zekharyah which means "Yahweh remembers". Zachary makes his first appearance on page 24 of "POAE".
  • Ringo- Ringo is a Rhinocerus Beetle. He has met Elek through a mutual friend, the bee Zachary. Ringo is very talkative and loves to talk about his sister Star. Ringo is named after the famouse drummer Ringo Star of the Beetles (one of my all time favorite bands) Ringo knows much about the surrounding area. His first appearance is page twenty-six of "POAE".

  • Wolf Spider- This big bad spider, is modeled after a Wolf Spider. His name and history are unknown. He has kidnapped Ringo's sister Star and is holding her ransom to make Ringo lure other creatures into his web. He plans to feast upon Elek.
  • Star- Star is Ringos sister, she has been held captive by the wolf spider forcing Ringo to do what he asks. She is named after Ringo Star the Beetles drummer.
  • Magnolia Eppies- The long "lost" cousins to the Eppies we know. The Magnolia Eppies are varied in size and the males have red spikey seed like hair. While the females have white flowers on their heads. It seems that there may be many more races of eppies spread across the globe!
